That's a penny I placed on the pumpkin so we could have something to give an idea of scale.
This monster weighs #452. If you look closely you can see that it is sitting cradled on the sling that carried it gingerly into the building. I wish I could have seen them set it into place. That was no ordinary Bobcat.
The other entrants are big. This guy is really big.
As long as I've lived here I've never been to the Missouri or Illinois state fairs. Been to a couple of county fairsm which are fun. That pumpkin is a monster - it actually looks monsterous.
I've become interested in tiles, terra cotta, brick pattern design and other ornamentation on the brick buildings of St. Louis and have a second blog as of August 09 called St. Louis Mosaic at: stlouismosaic@blogspot.com
If you are new here, you will find some tile pictures and other ornamentation from the past month, the origins of this interest.
If you are only looking for ornamentation, you might as well just go on over to St. Louis Mosaic, where I am adding new stuff all the time and bringing over copies of everything that's here as well.
September's Theme is "Big". I bet we'll see a few of these guys. But, you got there first! The penny was a great idea.

ReplyDeleteGave your and Ed's blogs a plug on my post today.
Yep. That is one big pumpkin. I always loved the State Fair, but haven’t gone for several years.
ReplyDeleteAnother event that you might want to check out in Illinois is the Festival of Faiths and Cultures on September 12 at Our Lady of the Snows.
